Compatibility
Works well with:
Hyaluronic Acid Glycerin Niacinamide Allantoin Betaine Aloe Vera Ceramides Peptides Vitamin E Sodium PCA
Use caution with:
Strong Oxidizing Agents High-concentration AHAs
Panthenol is broadly compatible with most cosmetic ingredients and performs well across a wide range of formulation types. At very low pH (below 4.0), it may undergo hydrolysis to pantothenic acid, reducing efficacy. Strong oxidizing agents can degrade panthenol and should be avoided in combination.
Formulation notes
D-Panthenol (dextrorotatory form) is preferred over DL-Panthenol for maximum biological activity. Commonly used at 0.5–2% in leave-on skin products and 0.1–1% in rinse-off hair care. No significant safety restrictions at typical use levels; well-tolerated and considered non-sensitizing.
