Compatibility
Works well with:
Glycerin Hyaluronic Acid Niacinamide Tocopherol Ceramides Fatty Alcohols Glyceryl Stearate Xanthan Gum Panthenol Retinol
Use caution with:
Strong Oxidizing Agents High-Concentration Alcohols Strong Acids Strong Bases
Lecithin is prone to hydrolysis and oxidative degradation at extreme pH levels (below 3 or above 7) and at elevated temperatures, so antioxidants like Tocopherol are recommended co-ingredients. High concentrations of ethanol can disrupt its lamellar structure and reduce emulsification efficacy. It is generally well-tolerated across most cosmetic actives and lipid systems.
Formulation notes
Derived from soy, sunflower, or egg sources; allergen declaration may be required for soy- or egg-derived grades in certain markets. Can exhibit batch-to-batch variability in phosphatidylcholine content. Hydrogenated or lyso forms are more oxidatively stable. Store away from heat and light to prevent rancidity.
