Compatibility
Works well with:
Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane Octocrylene Ethylhexyl Triazone Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate Titanium Dioxide Zinc Oxide
Bemotrizinol is an excellent photostabilizer and is well known for stabilizing photolabile UVA filters such as Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane (avobenzone), significantly improving the photostability of broad-spectrum sunscreen formulas. It is oil-soluble and must be incorporated into the oil phase. It is compatible with most cosmetic UV filters and is often combined with other organic and inorganic filters to achieve high SPF and critical wavelength values.
Formulation notes
Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine (Bemotrizinol, Tinosorb S) is a broad-spectrum organic UV filter providing both UVA and UVB protection, with peak absorption around 310 nm and 340 nm. It is widely used in European, Asian, and Australian sunscreens but is not yet approved by the FDA for use in the United States. It is photostable and acts as a photostabilizer for other UV filters, making it highly valued in high-performance sunscreen formulations.
