Microneedle patches require specialized microfabrication equipment, clean room manufacturing, and precise dissolution testing, which pushes MOQs to 10,000–50,000 units and unit costs to $1.50–$6.00+ depending on the active load and tip count per patch.
For an indie founder launching a first SKU, a standard hydrocolloid patch (plain or with a surface-applied cosmetic active) is the faster, lower-risk, lower-capital path.
